🦃 Classic Mrs. Cubbison’s Stuffing Recipe (Oven-Baked)
Servings: 8–10
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 30–35 minutes
🥄 Ingredients:
-
1 package Mrs. Cubbison’s Seasoned Stuffing (Classic or Corn Bread Style, ~12 oz)
-
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
-
1 ¾ cups chopped onion (about 2 medium)
-
1 ½ cups chopped celery
-
2–3 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
-
2 ½ to 3 cups chicken broth (or turkey stock)
-
2 large eggs, beaten (optional but helps bind)
-
1 teaspoon poultry seasoning (or sage, thyme mix)
-
Salt and pepper to taste
-
Optional Add-ins:
-
½ cup chopped parsley
-
1 cup chopped apples
-
1 cup toasted nuts (pecans or walnuts)
-
1 cup cooked sausage
-
🔥 Instructions:
-
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
-
In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion and celery (and garlic, if using). Sauté 8–10 minutes until soft but not browned.
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine stuffing cubes, sautéed veggies, and seasonings. Add broth gradually while tossing until moist but not soggy.
-
Mix in beaten eggs (optional but helps the stuffing hold shape when sliced).
-
Stir in any optional mix-ins (sausage, apples, etc.).
-
Transfer to the baking dish. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 10–15 minutes for a golden, crispy top.
🔁 Make-Ahead Tips:
-
Prepare the stuffing up to a day ahead. Store in the fridge, then bake before serving.
-
You can also stuff the turkey cavity, but make sure it reaches 165°F internal temperature for safety.
