🦃 Classic Mrs. Cubbison’s Stuffing Recipe (Oven-Baked)

Servings: 8–10
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 30–35 minutes

🥄 Ingredients:

  • 1 package Mrs. Cubbison’s Seasoned Stuffing (Classic or Corn Bread Style, ~12 oz)

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter

  • 1 ¾ cups chopped onion (about 2 medium)

  • 1 ½ cups chopped celery

  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced (optional)

  • 2 ½ to 3 cups chicken broth (or turkey stock)

  • 2 large eggs, beaten (optional but helps bind)

  • 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning (or sage, thyme mix)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Optional Add-ins:

    • ½ cup chopped parsley

    • 1 cup chopped apples

    • 1 cup toasted nuts (pecans or walnuts)

    • 1 cup cooked sausage

🔥 Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

  2. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion and celery (and garlic, if using). Sauté 8–10 minutes until soft but not browned.

  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine stuffing cubes, sautéed veggies, and seasonings. Add broth gradually while tossing until moist but not soggy.

  4. Mix in beaten eggs (optional but helps the stuffing hold shape when sliced).

  5. Stir in any optional mix-ins (sausage, apples, etc.).

  6. Transfer to the baking dish. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 10–15 minutes for a golden, crispy top.

🔁 Make-Ahead Tips:

  • Prepare the stuffing up to a day ahead. Store in the fridge, then bake before serving.

  • You can also stuff the turkey cavity, but make sure it reaches 165°F internal temperature for safety.
