Just a jellyfish

In the deep, endless blue of the ocean lived a translucent jellyfish named Neri. For years, he drifted with the currents, surrounded by schools of fish that darted away when he got too close, or swarms of plankton too small to offer companionship. Though the ocean was vast, Neri always felt trapped within his solitude, invisible and unwanted. At first, the loneliness was a heavy weight that dragged his spirits down, making the great expanse of water feel colder. But as time passed, he found a strange comfort in his isolation. He watched light dance on the waves above, listened to the distant songs of whales, and learned to be content with his own silent, gliding existence. In solitude, he discovered serenity.

One day, while drifting peacefully, Neri felt a calm acceptance wash over him. He no longer longed for company or felt bitterness towards the life that kept him alone. Just as this newfound peace settled in, a shadow loomed above him. A sea turtle, ancient and graceful, swept down in a slow, inevitable motion. Before Neri could react, the turtle's mouth closed around him. For a brief moment, a sting of sadness pierced him — not because of his fate, but because he had only just learned to love his own company. Then everything faded into the endless blue, and Neri dissolved like a wisp of light, returning to the ocean that had cradled him in loneliness and, at last, in peace. --JG
