A Holiday Lesson

A Holiday Lesson in the Parking Lot

Today at Kroger, I witnessed something that truly struck a chord with me. In the bustling parking lot, a sleek black Mercedes sat arrogantly in a handicapped space. No placard. No plate. Just a flashy car taking up a spot meant for those who genuinely needed it.

Nearby, I noticed a couple struggling—one in a wheelchair, the other leaning on a cane—having to make their way from a much farther spot because of this thoughtless act.

As I stood there, feeling a mix of frustration and sadness, a sound like thunder roared through the lot. A biker rolled in. This guy was huge—towering and fierce, his motorcycle rumbling like a storm. He saw the Mercedes. He saw the disabled couple. And he saw injustice.

Without a word, he parked his massive bike directly behind the Mercedes, blocking it in completely. If the driver wanted to back out, they’d have to knock over his bike to do it. He swung a leg off his bike, adjusted his leather jacket, and walked calmly into the store, disappearing into the holiday crowd.

I never saw what happened next, but something about that quiet act of defiance stayed with me. It was a reminder that doing the right thing sometimes speaks louder than words—and that the spirit of justice and kindness can show up in the most unexpected ways.
